The San Diego Zoo is home to over 4,500 rare and endangered animals across lush tropical gardens and naturalistic habitats. Wander winding paths shaded by exotic plants to observe species including giant pandas, koalas, Galápagos tortoises, tigers, eagles, flamingos, and great apes. Conservation is a central focus throughout the Zoo. The Harry and Grace Steele Elephant Odyssey blends zoo exhibits with a museum experience over 7.5 acres. The Fetter Family Galápagos Tortoise Exhibit features the Zoo’s 17 tortoises, often with keeper feedings. At the Conrad Prebys Polar Bear Plunge, explore a bear den, climb aboard an Arctic research helicopter, or compare your size to a polar bear.
